Infrastructure Services Group LLC (ISG) was founded with a specific focus on acquiring and funding companies that specialize in wastewater pipeline and manhole inspection, maintenance, and rehabilitation for municipal and industrial clients. These companies use trenchless technology solutions that lessen more disruptive and expensive dig-and-replace techniques.

ISG officially formed in November 2017, and in February 2018, acquired the majority interest in two private companies in the buried pipeline water and wastewater infrastructure space, each with approximately 20 years of experience and proven track records of success. They now operate as subsidiaries of ISG, which is seeking other such companies to join ISG via majority acquisitions.

Currently ISG is seeking a Controller for its Greenville, SC office.  The Controller will lead a variety of accounting-related tasks including: coordination and oversight of accounting functions at all ISG-owned companies; month-end close and financial reporting; corporate journal entries as well as some journal entries for ISG operating companies; fixed assets, accruals and account analysis; updating accounting procedures and internal controls; and special projects. The Controller supports the CEO directly in managing all aspects of designated general accounting functions for reporting and compliance. The Controller manages all employees of the corporate accounting department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that departments. The Controller provides advice and counsel to the accounting departments at ISG operating companies.

Controller Key Responsibilities

  • Manage monthly closing process including review of account reconciliations and monthly closing journal entries prepared by the Accounting Manager as well as the staff at the operating companies
  • Review and assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and quarterly board package
  • Manage cash flow for the organization including preparing weekly cash flow forecasts to determine weekly payments
  • Monitor and manage line of credit with Company's bank
  • Review quarterly bank compliance certificates and submit to the bank as required
  • Manage treasury function including ACH and wire payments
  • Complete monthly WIP schedule and conduct monthly WIP calls with operating companies to monitor project progress, estimates and revenue recognition
  • Assist CEO and corporate accountant with accounts receivable oversight, analysis and communication with the operating companies
  • Assist CEO with revisions and re-design to financial processes at all ISG companies
  • Oversee revisions to Foundation Accounting system at one company and oversee conversion to Foundation at the other company
  • Review accounting standard updates and determine applicability to Company
  • Develop, maintain and analyze annual budget and forecast
  • Facilitate and manage external audits (financial, insurance, etc.) with assistance from corporate accountant and CEO
  • Facilitate completion of annual income tax returns with assistance from corporate accountant and CEO
  • Facilitate ad hoc projects (sales tax review, new systems implementation and any others that may be required)
  • Monitor and maintain internal control environment
  • Assist CEO and board with analysis of possible acquisitions
  • Assist CEO with day to day execution of plans, modifications and acquisition strategies

Controller Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in accounting or finance; accounting leadership experience, in a Controller role or similar
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Experience in construction industry is preferred; experience in dealing with acquisitions is preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Office proficiency including; Word, Excel, and Access
  • CPA or CMA preferred
  • ERP system experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and superior analytical and organizational skills; This includes the ability to develop graphs, tables, presentations and templates to in order to convey information clearly, concisely and effectively
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members
  • Some travel required to operating companies. Estimated to be 20-30%; could be periods which exceed this estimate
